Spring Into The Season With A Clear Mind
Head into the spring season with a fresh, clean and open mind! Our Ste. Anne’s Skin Nourishment Brand Ambassador, Kelly O’Connor, has some tips to help improve your overall health all while embracing your inner neat freak!
Before we dig in, it’s important to understand why organizing can help improve your mental health. From reduction in stress and anxiety and improvement of sleep to boosting productivity and enhancing creativity, a bit of decluttering may be just what the doctor ordered!
Where to start? How about dedicating 15 minutes in the evening! It’s simple, fast and can make a world of difference.
“Try folding some laundry and prepare items needed in the morning, like keys, books, work items, and your lunch,” says Kelly O’Connor.
It’s also important (and fun!) to prepare your work attire and meals for the next day and the week ahead.
If you are looking for a long-term plan for tackling consistent patterns of clutter, O’Connor says you should take these tips into consideration:
- Don’t do everything all at once, begin with one simple area first
- Remove items that haven’t been used in six-nine months
- Store your belongings in a storage facility or additional unused space, such as a basement or garage
While cleaning benefits your mental health, it can also improve your immune system. A deep clean can help in eliminating immune system triggers by dusting and vacuuming in hard-to-reach areas. Developing a habit of putting linens in the dryer for 10 minutes regularly can also kill dust mites, which can cause a number of health issues.
At the end of the day, a spring clean doesn’t simply mean just cleaning; it means mindfulness. Focusing on the present can promote a positive attitude and a clean mindset!
